Had my XL interview on 8th March
Here it is :
After customary good morning wishes...
P2-Anupam tell me smthing abt urself
me--blah blah blah.
P2-tell me wat kind of work do u do
me --basically my work involves integration of various applications for clients(hospitals) ...blah blah
P2-so why do u need to do such a work ..even the medical staff can do tht ??
me-sir medical staff will do stuff related to medical but for the IT automation processes it needs IT personnels thts why
P2- I mean to say tht say 20 years bf4 also this kind work was done via files and stuff and done well .Infact their were no problems without IT so why do u need it done via IT??
me - Sir this is becoz every system need improvement and change at some time ,so though tht work cud have been done with previously held methods but change is essential to better ur processes and to make them more efficient ...(convinced)
P2-Why do u want to do HR
me-blahblahblha
P2-but u are an engineer thn why??
me-Sir basically it is becoz my interest lies in HR as i hv already told and i m very keen on tht ...i want to knw wat exactly is personnel management and ...
P2-wat is personnel management btw??
me- basically it relates more towards administrative functions apart from the normal processes ; like payroll processing (i read it smwhere)
P2 -tht is done by the accounts section (everybody laughed ) nyways seems ur not much aware abt wat HR is ..tell me thn why HR after engineering
me-basically sir ppl consider it a waste of ur engineering if u switch to hr but its not tht .its like .........(here i tried to develop a platform to come to the actual reason)
P2-Why r u saying tht its a waste ...i never said tht ..i mean jst tell me why HR after engineering
me-sir thts wat i was saying hr after engineering is a sort of taboo ....
P2 -again ur pushing urself ...its u who r saying its a taboo or a waste n there by ur blaming me tht i meant tht...can u jst gv me a reason to do hr
Me- sir education is holistic....
P2 -ok leave that jst tell me wat u'll gain from doing HR .u knw ppl get to do paper work in HR and only after 20 yrs do tht get to make important decisions .
me -sir i have seen ppl rise at a very high level and i can sight an example from my company their is this guy who has risen in a very short span of time and ....

P1 :Anupam wat is the difference b/w a KPO and IT industry ??
Me :Sir KPO that is the knowledge process outsourcing is basically ..................
P1 - i have not asked u the acronym tht i m aware of jst tell me difference b/w a KPO and IT industry
me-yes sir basically KPO is related to ITES tht is the IT enabled....

me-Listed 5 events (convinced after a long time) i thot now this will get over ...alas....
P3 - tell me abt subprime ?
me -told
P3-how it effects indain economy
me - told (he didnt look convinced)
P3- how sensex can reveal our economy
me-toldP3 -but sensex grew from 10000 to 20000 whereas our economy hasnmt doubled
me-its a relative term a sort of reflection
P1(smiles)- its absolute u r wrong here ......
P3- I am not at all convinced abt ur FII's stuff...anyways hw will volatile market affect a coomon man
at this stage i was mentally drained so i uttered sm crap
me-sir lot of our middle class is involved in stock markets so it will affect them
like i m from middle class
P2(laughs )-how many classes do u knw
me - sir upper middle and lower
P3 -tell me the number of ppl in middle class ppl in india
me - (i got bk sm of my senses)-sir around 30 crores and sir i hv realised i gv a wrong data
P3 - leave tht and tell me abt the impact of markets on common man.me- i dont knw sir i hv a limited knowledge in financial and economic domain .
P2 suddenly pitched in - thts wat i said if u dont knw anything just say i dnt knw.I m unable to understand u hv not quoted any data nor any quotations from famous persons seems u dont knw anything.me in my thots (plz sir leave me i agree )
me -Sir i feel tht i knw abt my data and i do read but i hv gvn a bad performance ...

me- I feel that i hv not been able to express myself and my ideas well enuf today.

me-sir tht is a habit basically ween i stress upon sm points and ....

and finally it got over ...i dnt knw the time but it was quite long....I tried my best to remain calm and coll and succeeded quite a bit and wore a smile most of the time
i had forgotten my bag in the room so came bk after 5 min
